Dear Ingrid and family:
Jehovah has something wonderful in mind you and I and millions others. Welcoming our loved one back. It doesn't make the pain any lighter at this time but the outlook you and Neil have of a bright and glorious future in the the New World is something we all look forward to. Sending you many, many hugs and may you be comforted by the memories you have and what we have to look ahead to in paradise.

Neil was a spiritual pillar in the congregation and a good example in serving God with humility. He showed me on one occasion that 'even if something is difficult to do, don't run away from it - it's your responsibility'. That has stuck with me. It will be a pleasure to see him with his family and friends again.

Dear Ingrid and family,
I am deeply sorry for your loss. As you know, Neil meant a lot to me, since he was like a dad to me. I took the lessons and training he gave me as a young boy with me to Haiti. His training and legacy was passed on to many I worked with on KH projects there.
He is now in the safest place in the universe: Jehovah's memory.
I can't wait to see him again soon with all of you!
Love,
Jonathan de la Durantaye

As was said, Neil was calm. Except when he thought we should be working harder. I started my carpentry apprenticeship under Neil in 1987. I recall a few times when, without saying a word, he would show up at a site, grab a hammer and start swinging it like a madman, driving home nails and driving home the point.
I recall another time when he sent me to the shop at his house in Palmerston for something and while I was there, Ingrid asked me to watch out for Alita. Then Ingrid disappeared. I didn't see where she went, so I stayed and played with Alita. I guess what she really meant was to watch out for her in that I make sure she did not get hurt by what I was doing. I was 19 and just didn't get it. Neil finally showed up, a little red faced, but calmly asked me what I was doing. I explained the situation at which point Ingrid showed up out of nowhere. I was so embarrassed but Neil's face returned to neutral and we went back to work.
The two years I worked for Neil and all that I learned from him have shaped my life and both Neil and Ingrid have always, and will always, have a special place in my heart.

We are so happy that we took the time to visit with you and Neil last October 2023.
The look of misbelief on your faces when we showed up at the door was incredible. The "bear" hug Neil gave me was great.
The generosity that you and Neil have displayed over the 40 + years we have known you is a fine example for many.
Thank you for your friendship and your encouraging words when we visit.
Our love to you and your family.

Growing up with the family, we all saw Neil as a dad to all of us. Always feeling welcome in their home, while Alita, Corey, Justin and I ran around the yard. He had a fun side that would peak through at the meeting too, I remember he was the first one to intro the sisters sing one line and the brothers sing the other then the third we all did. I thought that was the best! Praying for the family to have Jehovah's comfort, patience and calmness. So much love to the family xoxo.

Our hearts and prayers are with you dear sister and family as you grieve the loss of your precious husband, father, and grandfather. We always enjoyed seeing his smiling face and our many interesting conversations throughout the decades. Neil was easy going and always willing to lend a hand dating back from our days on the farm, to a last minute call, in our early marriage, for help with a move, and to sharing his skill and knowledge when pouring our garage floor. Neil was a young 60 at the time. He will be greatly missed. Much love from Heinz and Nancy.

Sorry for your loss Ingrid and family. He was a great brother and I will miss our chats about how to solve the Toronto Maple Leafs issues. So sad they didn't win the cup. Hold onto your great memories. Sorry we couldn't be there in person.
