Senhora Santos was such a kind, loving women. I remember your sweet Mother from my childhood. As a member of the close knit Portuguese community in Manitouwadge. We all spent a lot of time going to church and sharing in Portuguese traditions and celebrations. She and her loving, kind gentle husband had a house full of girls. I remember wishing I had a sister, how much fun that would have been. The ladies of this generation spent a lot of time caring for their families by cooking and baking all the delicious Portuguese treats. They also took pride in keeping their houses spotless and it showed in pride of ownership of their homes. But always time for church and God, they were the faithful. Always grateful for their many blessings. She lived a life well lived and it’s evident in the extended family and in generations to come. Such brave women, and men not speaking the English language, never seeing snow in their native island of Sao Miguel, yet making the move for a better life and to provide more opportunities for their children. So sad to experience this generation go. May she rest in eternal peace. To Grace, Natalie, Fernanda, Maggie and Paula and all extended family hold onto to memories and to each other. How lucky you all were to have your mom in your life for 91 years. And what a reunion she would have in heaven with your dad and other family and friends. My deepest condolences. Maria Cabral Xoxoxo
