Jackie was our neighbour on Railway Street in White River for as long as I can remember. For years, he went for coffee with my parents and my mom often shared his funny (and often dirty) jokes with me. I worked with Elaine as a teenager at Bagdon’s Gift Shop and she talked often to my mom on the phone. I had coffee with Jackie and my parents on numerous occasions, waved to him at least a thousand times and often saw him out in his yard splitting wood or on his atv. The last time I saw him last summer, he called me “dear” as he often did, and offered me a leash for our new puppy. He will be remembered and missed by his neighbours, the Sokoloski’s. I am sorry that we are unable to celebrate Jackie’s life with Elaine, Jackie’s family and friends as my mom had surgery recently and is unable to travel, and my dad is staying with us for the time being. We will be thinking of our White River family on Saturday as they gather together to mourn and celebrate Jackie’s life.
