Sending my sincere condolences to Lorraine, Helene, Dan, Denis and family
I first met Rolande in August 2000 when she travelled over 4000 miles to our home in Sheffield, England for the wedding of her youngest son Denis to our daughter Deborah. She visited our home and later we sat together at the wedding breakfast and spent time chatting about life and our respective families.
Our second meeting was in Maple, Ontario when my wife Betty and I made the return journey to Canada for further wedding celebrations. It was during this visit that Rolande introduced me to the wonder that is Pumpkin Pie, a somewhat alien taste to my English palate – but nevertheless delicious!
We did “meet” again on a few occasions at Christmas, but only via the modern technological wonder that is “Facetime”; or so my children tell me.
During my conversations with Rolande over the years I realised that bringing up a family of 4 children took great fortitude and love.
At the grand old age of 94 I was very sorry to hear of her passing, but will remember her strong families ties, her humour and her motherly fortitude.
May she rest in peace.

Dear Dan, Denis, Lorraine, Helene and family :
We are thinking of you all with the loss of your mother. She was a special lady and I'm sure you will all miss her.
I have many fond memories of going to your mom and dad's, especially at Christmas. They gave me my first set of double holster cowboy guns, I was so happy. I also remember a time I'd had a fight with my brother George so our mom had sent us both to our rooms with no supper. Then Rolande called and asked me to do an errand for her for which she gave me some money so I bought something to eat on the way home ! Your parents would often order Boston Cream Pie from the Boston Cafe and I would go down and pick it up for them.
Many years later we enjoyed a few trips up to Chapleau with my children. At Five Mile Lake we had a barbecue and the kids enjoyed the beach. We had a good time, and your mom sent us home with a huge picnic lunch for the trip back.
May all your good memories of special times spent with your mother be a comfort to you all now.
Looking forward to seeing you all in the spring.
Regent and Maria
