This tribute to Claude is from one of his teaching friends from Germany (Lorrie), and expresses on behalf of other friends and colleagues from that time ( Doris and Anne) our affection for him:
Dear friend and colleague he was to so many of us.He stayed with me several times when he came to Calgary after visiting his brother and family at Red Deer plus a few other friends in Calgary.I remember the fun we had with him while overseas and indeed I still think of that camping trip we three were on that weekend. It was to Holland wasn’t it and we pitched my tent near the Sea,didn’t we?I so remember our giggles pitching the tent and the ensuing events that weekend.
He was such a fine human being, friendly and always so helpful at work and elsewhere. He helped me select the paintings of Notre Dame and Place du Tetre in the arty area overlooking the city which Cecile and Marty and I visited the weekend they were engaged. He absolutely insisted I procure some paintings before returning home.
God bless him for the fine work he did in his teaching career and the many young people he helped educate.I know he has gone to a great reward.I know he is smiling still and thinking of all of us he met throughout his successful career and life.
I miss him still, especially after seeing his friendly smile in the obituary.

We are very saddened to read that Claude has passed away. We always enjoyed listening to his many stories of travel. Claude was a very kindhearted and compassionate man. He often took the time to offer words of comfort and reassurance to our Dad in Long Term Care.
Our thoughts are with his family and his extended family of close friends in the community. Rest in peace, Claude.

Claude loved his home and the people of Wawa and visiting there allowed me to regard the town and the friends who cared for him with great admiration. His courage during the whole of his illness leaves a great example for all to follow.
