DYER, Derek Alexander - Peacefully passed away at his home in Marathon on Thursday February 9, 2017 at the age of 68 years. His unexpected passing has brought tremendous grief to all that knew him. Not only was he a beloved brother, father and grandfather, he was born and raised in Marathon and was an active member of the community. Predeceased by his parents Iris Grace and Gordon Kenneth Dyer. Dearest brother to Barbara (Gene), Rita (Frank) and Debra Dyer. Dedicated father to Erin (Andrew) and Amy (Steve). Beloved Papa to Evie and Ayla. Husband to the late Ruth Dyer and stepchildren Raymond, Rita (Pete) and Rhonda. Derek loved a cold beer in a tall glass, a good hockey game and giving bear hugs. He will be deeply missed. A memorial service was held at St. John’s United Church, Marathon on Thursday February 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon at the Royal Canadian Legion, Marathon.
