DESMOULIN, Basil – His traditional name is “Standing Strong Buffalo Man from the Frog Clan” – Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Wilson Memorial General Hospital, Marathon on Sunday November 13, 2016 at the age of 81 years. Beloved husband of Nancy for 58 years. Proud and loving father of Susan Nabigon (Chris), Jennifer Cooke (Clyde), Carol Twance (Keith), Donalda Gagne (Michel), Mary Ann Starr (Thomas), Barry Desmoulin (Sandra) and Amanda Desmoulin (Abraham Michano). Basil was welcomed into heaven by his grandchildren Kody, Sarah-Angel, his special brother Harry, his mother, father, grandmother, grandfather and by his brothers and sisters that passed before him. “The Best” Grandfather of Chris (Lorraine), Kyle, Delia, John, Katie (Zach), Keith, Dustin (Chelsea), Dancia (Doug), Danica, Thomas, Sterling, Carter, Ethan, Aireal and Dakota. The day following Basil’s arrival to heaven, he welcomed his grandson Colin into heaven. Proud great grandfather of Darian, Arwen, Hailey, Nevaeh, Lesley, Logan, Spencer, Leighton, Korbyn and Quinton. Dear brother of Irene Moses, Lina Desmoulin, Kenneth Desmoulin (Sharon), Doris Robinson (Dennis), David Desmoulin (Carol) and Geraldine Robinson. Basil will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered for his great story telling and the love he had for his grandchildren. Basil was a strong supporter of his grandchildren and some of the greatest joys of his life were welcoming the new grandchildren and great grandchildren into the family and watching them participate in sports. Friends and family may visit at the Biigtigong Nishnaabeg/Pic River Community Centre on Friday November 18, 2016 after 3:00 p.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Saturday November 19, 2016. A Funeral Mass for Basil and Colin will be held at Holy Saviour Church, Marathon on Saturday November 19, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. with Father Lawrence Susai officiating.
